TYRANNOSAURUS REX INCLUDED IN BLUE PLAQUE A Blue Plaque has been installed in Kidderminster (our old home tome) to commemorate the site of Frank Freeman's Dance Studio described by John Peel as the "Best Venue outside London"! SKATEBOARD DEMO INCLUDED ON SKATEBOARD ALBUM This is the archive of two articles from http://skateandannoy.com. The first is a review of an album entitled "This is Skateboard Music". The review states:- The only credible artist on the compilation is T.Rex. with his song "Skateboard" that appears in demo form at the end. Amazingly, this track may only be available on This is Skateboard Music." The second Archived article is a Blog entry from the same site by Kilwag and is worth a read too :-) Please note the videos embedded in the page don't work as this is a screen capture. |

GADGET SHOP FEATURES MARC T-SHIRT This is from the 'Gadget Shop 'Rexmas 2009' Catalogue which was included as an insert for many magazines in the run-up to Rexmas. Nice to see Marc was featured for their "Guitar Rock Star" item :-) What a shame they didn't sell the T-Shirt as an 'add-on'!

CLOCKWORK ORANGE Many people will know this, but for people who have forgotten (it's our age isn't it?) or didn't know check out this photo (which has now been saved in the archives). As you'll see its from Clockwork Orange and originates from the Malcom McDowell web site (he played the main character in this film). The 'T.Rex' labels were already on the photos when I saved them. However they missed another smaller Ride A White Swan promo-image of Marc 'n Mickey which I've circled. Its interesting in this very late 60's version of 'the future' the CD has never arrived and Vinyl is still King! Click Here to see the Image

NEIL TENNANT: PETSHOP BOYS Many tanx to John Hunt for sending this scan in. John said "I mentioned a while back that I'd found something on the Pet Shop Boys website mentioning that Neil Tennant had once interviewed Marc Bolan. I've now managed to print it out and scan it and I've attached it. I hope it's clear enough." Yep - lovely John :-) Tanx. Click Here to see the Scan

MARC'S SHRINE - PART OF THE NATIONAL CURRICULUM TRIPLE CROSSED TEACHING: Well who would have thought it? This took me back to a time when I was walking back from the school Dining Room (which was nowhere near the rest of the school in Ledbury). my friends & I were laughing at, & mocking the music of 'the older generation' which periodically forced its way into the charts & cluttered up Top Of The Pops. Suddenly a voice broke through our teenage girlie merriment & said "One day the music you like will be old fashioned!" It was Mrs. Southall who was not only my English Teacher, but was also my form teacher. She was determined to hammer the 'round peg' we arrived as at the age of eleven into the 'square hole' of the Grammar School 'expecations'. Of course her words have echoed down the years as music tastes have changed & I have always cursed her for that. But I can finally get my own back on the now presumably deceased Mrs. Southall with a raised finger & the words:- "Old Fashioned? Now Marc Bolan is part of the Curriculum." How I wish history had been this interesting when I was at school. I might have even paid attention to the coursework & not the transistor radio in my blazer pocket with the single cream coloured earpiece hidden by my hair :-) Laser Love, Fee xxxxx. Click Here

 FLO & EDDIE
You will probably know of the connection to Marc of Flo and Eddie otherwise known as Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan but do you know how they got those nicknames? Well I have to admit I didn't. But now I do, so I thought if I thought it was interesting then you might too! Most people know of Mark Volman & Howard Kaylan from The Turtles, who for those who don't know had some glorious pop hits in the 60s and then went into Bonzo Dog Do-Dah Band territory with their final album, Battle of the Bands, in which they impersonated a variety of fake bands. It's no wonder that Frank Zappa asked them to join the 2nd edition of the Mothers. But they couldn't use their real names for silly contractual reasons, so Zappa called them the Phlorescent Leech & Eddie, which they later shortened to Flo & Eddie. So, now you know :-) Check out the funny 2003 film My Dinner with Jimi where "The story of Mark Volman and Howard Kaylan is told -- from The Turtles to The Mothers of Invention to their solo career". You will find this film now listed in TAG'S Amazon Store. |

ROCK SHRINES BOOK Fab Book listing the Top Forty Main Rock Shrines in the world (with ten additional listings allocated 1/5th page each). With lots of additions in 'pouches'. In the case of Marc, these include a copy of his Death Certificate and he is given four full pages too :-) There is a mention of Golders Green and his first home in Hackney, but the majority of the article is about Marc's Rock Shrine in Barnes, London. Its clear that this book is going to sell-and-sell! With people buying this book world-wide. When they open it up they will find some FAB Coverage of Marc Bolan largely due to his Rock Shrine in Barnes, London. I have the most amazingly warm feeling of happiness knowing that my wife Fee's dedication to the site since I first met her back in 1978 is credited, as it is in this book :-) Sincerely, TAG Chairman: Kevin Warner.
